How Dark Are You Allowed To Tint Your Windows?
For windshields, you’re allowed to have non-reflective window tint on the top four inches, as long as it lets in at least 70 percent of light. As for the front and rear windows or windshields, they must allow in at least 27 percent of light. But here’s an important caveat: if the back windows allow less than 27 percent VLT, you’re not allowed to have any tint on the two front windows. Stay compliant and enjoy the perfect balance of style and functionality for your ride.
Tinting windows outside of the legal limit or without proper mirrors can result in a class B traffic infraction, or misdemeanor with $500-$5000 fine.
